does any one know how to make a wall look like a stone castle wall
my son is wanting is walls in his room to look like stone. like you see on
old castle does anyone know how to paint it or the best way to get the
look of stone.(not wanting it to look like briks) grey round looking
stones.
Faux painting is one way to go, but I agree wall-paper is
better. Depending on your budget, the most authentic product I have seen
is weathered stone. Its described as a hand made stone replica product
that can be used to create authentic stone designs on walls, countertops,
floors and much more. You will not know it is not real stone.
Everyone is making this too hard. Paint the walls the color
you want the ''grout'' of the wall to be. Let it dry. Pick the color of
the ''stone'' and use old newspaper cut to the size you want the stones to
be. Dip paper in paint and if you want it to look aged you can wrinkle the
newspaper when you you put it on the wall. The final result is great but
it takes a while to do.
That is a lot of work ur talking about. I have a suggestion.
wwwStumpsProm.com has corrugated paper printed with a cobblestone design
that looks like castle stone walls. It comes in a 4ft x 25ft. roll for
$20.99. You could temporarily tack this on his wall & live with it for
awhile, to see if he wants his whole room done like a stone wall. If he
does, you just copy the design off the paper with paint. Stumps also has
other castle related items in their catalog, check these out to.
I did this recently for my nephew..
Visit hardware store & buy a enough sheeting of driveway stencil (its a
stencil you lay down along ur drive when you want to make it look like
paving..with irregular block shapes).
Paint the wall a light grey (or a charcoal) colour (this will later look like the cement holding ur blocks together). Place the stencil on wall. Get a sand bag..spray adhesive to the wall & fling the sand over.you can be really random by having more or less sand in different areas. Let it dry. Spray with a sealant (so you don't have sand falling off later). Paint with a medium dark grey colour. Let semi-dry & then using the 'rag method' apply a wishy washy layer of a lighter grey paint..really make it look patchy..you should get some really nice mixing of light, dark streaks to. Peel away the seal & there you go...now you just have to clean up the mess. Took half a day.but was way fun.
Painting the walls to look stonelike is possible, but is a bit
hard. It is very tedious and hard to get the coloring right on the entire
wall unless you are talented in that field. I would suggest using
wallpaper. It is washable, it is realistic looking and A LOT easier than
paint. The have new wallpaper out now that is strippable and very eary to
take down once he outgrows it.
